Contact Lens Solutions – Proper Care Required

The extensive use of contact lenses means more and more people buy contact lens solutions, a cleaning solution is required to keep the lens free from bacteria.

Earlier cleaning lenses used to take time and be a tedious process.

But now with the introduction of easy cleaning solutions and disposable contacts, the process is simple.

A contact lens solution should not be mixed with another solution as it could harm your eyes.

There are various lens cleaners like multipurpose solutions, hydrogen peroxide solutions, saline solutions and enzymatic cleaners.

Multipurpose solutions are used the most as it combines enzymatic cleaning and is easy to use.

Some solutions advise that you should put a few drops into your palm and rub the lens while some require you to just rinse the lens.

The cleaning of contacts should be done daily.

Before you remove the lens from your eyes you should wash your hands thoroughly.

Remove one lens at a time and rinse them or rub them as recommended.

After cleaning the lens you should fill your contact lens case with the same solution and immerse your contact lens.

Some multipurpose solutions do not advise protein removal separately.

Your doctor or eye care proffesional would be the best person to advise you regarding protein removal as protein gets deposited on your lens and if there is constant build up of protein on your lenses you could face vision difficulties.

Some doctors also advise the use of eye drops like aquify so as to assist tear formation in the eyes if you face dryness daily.
